Atlanta Show

LC Jungle Flare 'Gracielle' AM/AOS

The Atlanta show has come and gone, and we had a very nice time. Once again we have been blessed by having one of our plants awarded by the American Orchid Society (AOS). The plant is LC Jungle Flare 'Gracielle' AM/AOS (C. Little Dipper x LC Jungle Elf). In honor of our first and only granddaughter, we named the awarded plant after her, Gracielle. After the show "Poppie" and Gracielle took a moment to admire the flowers.

Save up to $16 on shipping

Psychilis krugii

The month of November has come so fast. Yesterday we weren't even thinking about holiday plans, and today we've realized Thanksgiving is only 3 weeks away. It's such a cliche, but time really does fly. We had a nice October showing for the hybrid special and are excited to offer a new special on our website for this month. All orders over $100 will ship for free. This means that you can save up to $16 on shipping. (There are a number of plants on our site for $16 and under--that would be like getting a plant free!) We also throw in a heat pack and winter wrapping free of charge for all web orders with requests or for orders going to areas of the country receiving temperatures near or below freezing. That is a $2 per heat pack savings over our eBay orders. Speaking of heat packs, we've shipped to Alaska in the winter with heat packs very successfully, so don't hesitate to order during the winter months.

Have a great November!!

Literally Growing in our Backyard

Spiranthes gracilis

Despite the severe drought which has been ongoing in our north Georgia area, we did have a modest blooming of some native orchids in our pasture. The pictures are of Spiranthes gracilis commonly called Slender Ladies' Tresses. Flowers are small, about 1/4 inch, white with a green throat, and are arranged in a large spiral around the flowering stalk. The number of spirals varies greatly, with some plants appearing one-sided and some winding around the stalk 3 or more times. In Georgia it is found in sunny dry grassy locations blooming from September to mid-October.

LC Jungle Eyes

In the last couple days we have added several new items on our website including one of our best-selling hybrids, LC Jungle Eyes. This plant never lasts long on our site and if you've ever seen it blooming in person, you know why. It is truly a magnificent mini-catt.

POT Bradford Craig Lundberg ‘Trevor’

This is a picture our daughter took today of POT Bradford Craig Lundberg ‘Trevor’ that she has on display at her house. This flower holds amazingly fluorescent purple flowers with an equally fluorescent yellow throat. Our daughter commented on the fact that the flowers’ fragrance is so strong that it makes the whole entryway of her house smell wonderfully. These flowers are beautiful in bloom in the greenhouse, but seeing them on display in a home makes for an entirely different show. We have this mericlone for sale currently on or website -- and it's in bud!
Edited: This plant has been sold. We have others that are not in bud in the greenhouse for sale. We haven't added any new ones to our website yet, so inquire if interested.

Halfway Through

The hybrid special is half way over as it is now the middle of the month. We have had a great response but some great plants are available still. We have also added a lot of new plants on both the hybrid and species pages.

October Rolls Around

C. Ariel 'Bodnants'

The start of a new month means a new website special. This month we are offering 10% off all plants on the hybrids list. You can find some really great deals there, including $25 off of C. Ariel ‘Bodnants’. The plant for sale is an actual division of the mother plant. We don’t use the term “actual division” unless it truly is. Some other orchid vendors--mostly eBay vendors--use this term questionably, but we don’t slap it on any old plant unless we know. In the same way, we don’t slap on an awarded or popular clone name on a plant just to get a sale. If you see a clone name on our plants, rest assured, it’s the real deal.

Edited: The special continues, but the C. Ariel 'Bodnants' has been sold.

Sundays are busy days

Cattleya bowringiana v coerulea 'Jewell's Blue Angel'

Today is like a typical Sunday—up for church, home for a quick lunch, and then off to get our new eBay listings prepared to put online. Most weeks we have eBay listings going off and on in the late evening on Sundays…and this Sunday is no exception. Check out the great finds we list every week and don’t forget to place your bid. :)

New to the World of Blogs

We are excited to have our own blog now to keep you up-to-date with the business and happenings of the greenhouse in general. We recently had a visit from our two-year-old granddaughter, Gracielle. She loves to help in the greenhouse--mostly by carrying Grandpa's plants around. If you see a plant moving in the greenhouse seemingly all by itself, odds are there's a short little girl who's moving it to a "better" location. This weekend LC Aloha Bleu 'Gracielle' just happened to be in bloom, so she was able to have her picture taken with a plant named after her. It just happens to be the best Aloha Bleu we've bloomed.
